Lately, I’ve had a renewal of inspiration to write and sing, to tell the stories and sing the songs of the faith in Jesus Christ that I was first introduced to underneath a midnight Ozark moon when I was a kid.
I’ve been leading worship music for about eight years now and writing songs for about ten. Jesus has put me in so many places that I never imagined I would end up. I’ve seen that same Ozark moon become a silver lamp in an Indian sky and watched the burnished sun rise in the eyes of the Peruvian poor. More than that, I’ve heard the heartbeat of faith become sure and steady in the footsteps of many of those I love. Together we cling to the songs and stories of the Kingdom at hand and the Kingdom coming, waiting for the time when the threshold of faith will be crossed and all the lenses we look through will be removed... till we are face to Face.
Till then the ‘old story bears repeating’, and I will sing the Gospel song in a foreign land. Till the clouds part and this old seed of an earth finally dies only to bloom into the mighty thing that only the imagination of God can tell.
